CPMC Sutter Health
Putting Media Technology to Work Saving Lives
ALT Systems integrates editing, storage, and asset management in operating rooms at California Pacific Medical Center.
When it comes to life-saving surgical procedures, hospitals have an uncompromising need for reliable media capture, fast editorial storage, and intuitive media asset management technology.
Sutter Health’s new interventional endoscopy center at the California Medical Center in San Francisco is a state-of-the-art facility that puts the power of cutting edge video technology to work saving lives. The corporation turned to ALT Systems to design and deploy a new video capture and editing system enabling surgeons to document and review procedures.
The system allows surgeons to simultaneously record, review and analyze multiple surgical procedures in a fast-paced 24×7 hospital environment where reliable access to media can truly be a matter of life and death.
As ALT Systems Vice President of Business Development Brian Botel puts it, “ALT Systems is one of the largest CatDV MAM systems integrators in America. So, when Sutter Health needed a technology partner to link the Storz surgical system to a video post-production workflow, ALT System was the natural choice.”
Technology in use includes:
- A 240TB Scale Logic Genesis Network Attached Storage system
- A CatDV Media Asset Management (MAM) system
- Custom Apple Mac workstations with Adobe Premier and a CatDV plug-in panel
- An Arista 10Gb Ethernet fiber data network
“By leveraging the CatDV API, we were able to reliably match metadata from the Storz endoscopy system with media captured during surgery.
This enables CPMC’s world-class surgeons to immediately find and review procedures using the same information available to them in the operating room.”
